YOUR APPROACH

  1. Approach dive site in a calm and controlled manner.

  2. Position yourself in a suitable location to obtain clear images of sharks.

  3. Be patient, and remain as still as possible to allow sharks to swim past you in their natural pattern.

  4. Do not chase or harm sharks.
YOUR MOST VALUABLE IMAGES OF SAND TIGER SHARKS WILL BE:

  1. Positioned at right angles to either the left side or right side of the shark.

  2. Clear enough to show spots and markings on the shark.

  3. Properly exposed, since overexposure obscures shark markings.

  4. With minimal backscatter, as backscatter (e.g., spots in image caused by improper strobe positioning) can be confused with shark markings.

  5. High-resolution images captured from your camera or extracted from video footage.

  6. Uploaded to website in jpeg format, preferably no larger than 2Mb file size.

  7. SPOT A SHARK USA DOES NOT CONDONE REMOVAL OF SAND TIGER SHARKS FROM THE WATER FOR PHOTOGRAPHY. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT PHOTOGRAPHS THAT SHOW ILLEGAL HANDLING OR MISHANDLING OF SAND TIGER SHARKS.
Ideal images are those at right angles to either the left side or right side of sand tiger sharks. Ideal images are also clear enough to see shark markings, are not over-exposed, have minimal backscatter, and are at high resolution.
